Tree swallows

Surprisingly, way more difficult to photograph than hummingbirds.

I think this proves what some people say is a key to great photography... take lots of pictures! I took almost 200 to get these 4 that I like. I can't imagine being into photography before digital cameras... I guess that was incentive to get good fast!

  5. Awesome. :) That's funny about them being trickier to capture than humminbirds, because hummingbirds do pause to hover, and swallows never do. I was watching them last night near the sea at sunset, and they are super fast. :)

  6. Haha,
I've tried taking pictures of birds before, they're such a hassle, so I commend you for this :D

  9. Well, it was worth the 200 pictures. I like the first one the best. I have never tried to take pictures of birds (while they're flying), it must be very difficult. And yes, so glad that the digital cameras were invented :)

  10. Victoria, these are awesome shots! I love the movement and shape of the first one.

Yep, definitely, key is to take a lot. On my recent trip I took nearly 3000 in 6 days. The problem is going thru them all and resizing etc. But I wouldn't have it any other way.

    Have a wonderful weekend, T. :)

  11. i love that second photo! the detail in the wings is fantastic. :)
i majored in (nondigital) photo in college. the general practice was if you got 2-3 successful shots per roll of 35mm film, you were doing well. i have pages and pages and pages of contact sheets of, well, crap images. :P it gets pretty darn spendy after a while. i'm liking this digital revolution fo sho! :D
